About the Artist

An artist committed to the beauty of life

Arwen DPS

Born in 1980, Arwen DPS is a self-taught contemporary artist. She lives in Auvergne and works in her studio, in close contact with the material.

She paints with acrylics and charcoal on OSB, canvas, and paper. OSB, which she has used for several years, has become an essential component of her work. This raw, recycled material bears its own marks and fractures, lending a physical and emotional dimension to each composition.

Arwen develops a demanding style of painting, balancing precision and tension. Her portraits, both human and animal, captivate with their direct gaze and emotional intensity. The abstract backgrounds contrast with the intense presence of the subjects. Each work engages in a silent dialogue with what is there, what suffers, what resists.

Her work reflects a strong commitment to social causes. Arwen champions causes that are essential to her: biodiversity conservation, animal welfare, and support for sick children. She donates a portion of her sales to local charities.

In 2025, she received the Gold Medal from the Academy of Arts, Sciences, and Letters for her body of work. This significant recognition came in addition to the First Prize from the Press, which she received the same year at the Thuillier Gallery in Paris. Her portrait of Salvador Dalí also graced the cover of the Visual Art Journal, marking a turning point in her artistic visibility.

Today, Arwen continues on her path, uncompromising, faithful to a style of painting that expresses what words cannot. A sincere, instinctive work, dedicated to what deserves to be seen.
